Job summary

STAR Transit is seeking a professional driver to operate transit buses with a strong commitment to safety and customer service. The role includes daily vehicle inspection, fare collection, and real-time communication with dispatch to ensure on-time service.

You will complete required trainings, assist passengers including those with mobility devices, and maintain a clean, safe vehicle environment while complying with company policies and DOT regulations.

Qualifications

• Hold an active CDL with passenger endorsement.
• Maintain a valid DOT medical certificate (DOT physical).
• Have a clean driving record and pass background/MVR checks annually.
• Comply with STAR Transit safety and harassment policies.

Responsibilities

• Complete required training on transportation program, reporting, and vehicle operation.
• Maintain daily cleanliness and appearance of the vehicle.
• Notify Fleet Manager of any vehicle problems.
• Conduct pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections and report conditions.
• Collect fares according to STAR Transit procedures.
• Operate radio/phone with dispatcher and report schedule changes.
• Drive safely and comply with all traffic laws.
• Provide curb-to-curb assistance to passengers, including mobility device support and securing devices.
• Learn STAR Transit service areas and relay route changes to dispatch.
• Report accidents or incidents immediately to Dispatch.
• Adhere to Drug/Alcohol, Safety, and Accident Prevention plans.
• Complete Passenger Assistance, First Aid & CPR, Defensive Driving, and Sexual Harassment trainings.
• Undergo annual background checks and MVR checks.
