Magellan Health, Inc. seeks an Assignment Ready Counselor (ARC) for the MFLC program in New York.

This role provides non-medical, short-term counseling to adults, children and youth of service members, including assessment, brief counseling, action planning and referrals in on-demand or surge situations. The ARC may work at DoDEA or community schools, summer programs and other military installations, with a focus on brief therapy, parent guidance and coordination with installation POCs.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in a mental health-related field or social work.
• Willingness to accept assignments on short notice, including weekends.
• Ability to quickly build rapport with service personnel clients, family members, students, parents, and co-workers.
• Adaptable to new working conditions and location rules; adjusts working style to fit each environment.
• Able to work effectively with minimal instruction and guidance; listens carefully to instructions.
• Participates in regular in-services/training and other contract activities as assigned.
• Ability to engage and communicate with military members, spouses, or children to accomplish job functions and respond quickly to emergent situations in various locations on a military installation or within a school setting.
• Establishes and maintains relationships with community resources and provides appropriate linkages.
• Partners with the POC to provide Adult and CYB services that address installation needs.
• Manages duty-to-warn and restricted reporting according to DoD protocol.

Responsabilités

• Provides non-medical, short-term, solution-focused counseling directly to adults, children, and youth of service members.
• CYB counselors focus on supporting staff and personnel of Child Development Centers, DoDEA and community schools, youth programs and summer camps, and provide parent training and guidance.
• Delivers training and health and wellness presentations; participates in health fairs and other base/installation activities.
• Enters counselor activity data daily through smartphone or web application, ensuring reporting accuracy while maintaining confidentiality.
