Job summary

Magellan Health is seeking an Assignment Ready Counselor (ARC) for summer coverage at military installations. The role requires an independent license and a Master’s degree in a mental health field, with flexibility for short-notice assignments and possible weekend coverage.

You will provide brief, solution-focused counseling to service members and families, with emphasis on confidentiality and system‑level coordination.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in a mental health-related field.
• Current independent licensure (e.g., LCSW, LPC, LMFT) per state requirements.
• Ability to accept assignments with short notice; weekends and varying durations.
• Excellent rapport-building and adaptability.
• Experience working with military culture preferred.
• Fluency in English and ability to travel within installations.

Responsibilities

• Provide non-medical, short-term counseling to adults, children, and youth at military installations.
• Deliver assessment, brief counseling and consultation, action planning, referrals, and follow‑up.
• Offer trainings and health/wellness presentations; conduct parent consultations; coordinate with schools and DoDEA.
• Collaborate with CYB and MFLC programs; respond to critical incidents as directed.
• Enter counselor activity data daily via smartphone or web application; maintain confidentiality.
