Job summary

Syracuse University is seeking a Part-Time Instructor for IST263 Intro to Web Development for Spring 2027. The position is campus-based, in-person, with weekly meetings on the Syracuse University campus and office hours expected for student support.

Responsibilities include teaching with a prepared syllabus, guiding projects, grading, and coordinating with the Professor of Record and Program Director to ensure the course meets its learning objectives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/IT/Web Development or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Demonstrated proficiency in HTML5 and semantic markup.
• Strong knowledge of CSS, including Flexbox, responsive design, and box model concepts.
• Ability to explain technical concepts clearly to beginners with no prior coding background.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with professor of record and program director to align syllabus and course content.
• Attend onboarding and training with the iSchool Faculty Center for Teaching and Learning.
• Maintain office hours and open communication with students.
• Prepare lectures, projects and other student assignments in Blackboard LMS.
• Grade assignments and exams promptly and provide feedback.
• Prepare weekly online sessions with students.
• Offer the class in Spring 2027 with weekly in-person meetings on campus.
• Present instruction based on course competencies and performance levels.
• Submit mid-semester progress reports and final grades per university policies.
