Job summary

Syracuse University’s School of Art seeks a Part-Time Instructor to teach DRM 300 Selected Topics: Dramaturgy, a two credit hour online asynchronous course, during Fall 2026. The instructor will mentor dramaturgs for the department and Syracuse Stage productions.

This on-campus position requires regular in-person presence to support students, along with office hours and grading duties; prior theater experience and teaching are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Drama or equivalent professional experience in dramaturgy.
• Five plus years experience working in theater in either a professional or academic setting.
• Prior teaching experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Developing a class syllabus.
• Preparation of lectures or assignments.
• Maintaining regularly scheduled office hours.
• Presenting instruction based on the competencies of the course.
• Submitting completed mid-semester progress reports and final grades according to University regulations.
• Grading student assignments and exams in a timely manner.
• Providing departmentally sanctioned forms for completed student evaluations.
