Job summary

University of Wyoming seeks an Associate General Counsel I to assist the Vice President and General Counsel in providing legal services and strategic guidance to the University. You will advise academic and administrative units on a broad range of legal matters affecting a state institution of higher education, including employment, civil rights, contracts, policy review, and FERPA compliance.

The role focuses on risk management, training, and ensuring adherence to applicable laws and university

Qualifications

• J.D. from ABA-accredited law school.
• Entry level; no prior experience required.
• Member in good standing of the Wyoming Bar or eligibility within 12 months.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal and risk management advice to university units on a broad range of issues.
• Draft, review, revise, negotiate, and advise on university contracts, regulations, policies.
• Advise administrators and units on compliance with federal, state, local laws and policies.
• Coordinate responses to Wyoming Public Records Act requests and FERPA matters.
• Represent the University in internal and external administrative proceedings.
