Job summary

Syracuse University is seeking an Academic and Career Advisor based on the Syracuse campus. The role requires in-person presence during standard university business hours to support undergraduate students, perform degree audits, create four-year plans, and provide career guidance on internships and experience credits.

The position is part of a bargaining unit (SEIU, Local 200United) and reports to the Assistant Director of Academic and Career Advising.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of advising experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, required.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one and group academic advising to SOE undergraduates, prepare degree audits and four-year plans using Degree Works and university systems; advise on course selection and major options; refer students to campus resources and services including Financial Aid and Syracuse Abroad.
• Oversee administrative tasks related to undergraduate degree certification and degree clearances; collaborate with Career and Certification Counselor; monitor Degree Works.
• Counsel probation students and assist with programs and events supporting retention and student success; leverage AI tools in advising workflows with accuracy checks.
