Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health seeks a Telecom Technician to handle cable installation, jack installations, repairs and troubleshooting. You will manage day-to-day work orders, track progress, and assist with off-hours projects as needed across onsite and off-site locations.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required; Associate's degree preferred.
• 1–3 years related work experience required.
• Advanced technical computer skills as required for technical support specific to functional area and related systems.

Responsibilities

• Routinely communicates with the Telecom Infrastructure Manager and others as appropriate regarding department functions and status of programs, services, and financial objectives.
• Maintains Telecom Department SLA timelines for call backs, installations and problem resolutions; responsible for accurate ticket reporting.
• Daily work order monitoring and completion of requests for moves, adds and changes, as well as repair requests for all voice and data connections.
• Responsible for installation and termination of Category 3, 5E, 6, 6a, CATV and other low voltage wiring; testing and labeling per standards.
• Assume responsibility for fire stopping penetrations and organizing, labeling cables to industry standards; identify/remove old cables.
• Work as a team member on large projects and may work independently on small projects or site surveys.
• Maintains equipment, inventory of cable and jack parts; refurbishes and returns recovered equipment to service.
• Maintain critical communications services in emergencies and be available off hours for major installations and on-call rotation.
