Job summary

Ombudsman Educational Services, a ChanceLight division, is seeking an On-Call Substitute Teacher for Grades 7-12 in Nashville. You will deliver standards-aligned instruction, design daily lesson plans, and collaborate with staff to support at-risk students.

You will maintain instructional momentum, reinforce behavioral expectations, and communicate progress with families. This role emphasizes adaptability, crisis-ready decisions, and ongoing professional growth in a dynamic educational

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in education or a closely related field.
• Licensed currently or in the process of obtaining a valid TN state substitute teaching credential.
• Ability to obtain and maintain certification in crisis management training.
• Prior experience and/or knowledge in curriculum development, differentiation and instruction; preferably in an alternative, special education and/or behavioral health program setting.
• Prior experience and/or knowledge in alternative educational services and working with at-risk students with diverse needs at various levels.
• Proven ability to effectively prioritize tasks and meet deadlines while maintaining organization and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging, standards-aligned instruction through curriculum materials and educational software to maximize student mastery.
• Design daily lesson plans and structured classroom schedules that align with state requirements and school expectations.
• Collaborate with teachers and support staff to provide targeted instructional support and approved curriculum modifications.
• Establish and reinforce clear behavioral expectations to cultivate a safe, structured learning environment.
• Communicate proactively with parents and guardians regarding student progress and areas for growth.
• Participate in team meetings to address student-specific academic or behavioral concerns and develop aligned action plans.
• Monitor and analyze student progress through data reviews and performance metrics.
• Stay current with research-based instructional practices and professional development.
• Respond constructively to feedback to support continuous professional growth.
