Job summary

Ombudsman Educational Services, a ChanceLight division, is seeking an On-Call Substitute Teacher for Grades 7-12 in Nashville. You will deliver standards-aligned instruction, design daily lesson plans, and collaborate with staff to support at-risk students.

You will maintain instructional momentum, reinforce behavioral expectations, and communicate progress with families. This role emphasizes adaptability, crisis-ready decisions, and ongoing professional growth in a dynamic educational

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in education or a closely related field.
  • Licensed currently or in the process of obtaining a valid TN state substitute teaching credential.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain certification in crisis management training.
  • Prior experience and/or knowledge in curriculum development, differentiation and instruction; preferably in an alternative, special education and/or behavioral health program setting.
  • Prior experience and/or knowledge in alternative educational services and working with at-risk students with diverse needs at various levels.
  • Proven ability to effectively prioritize tasks and meet deadlines while maintaining organization and attention to detail.

As an On-Call Substitute Teacher, you are accountable for driving measurable student achievement in Grades 7-12 by consistently executing instructional practices aligned with ChanceLight Education standards and Ombudsman policies. You play a critical role in maintaining instructional continuity, classroom stability, and a high-performance learning environment.
