The City of Parkland is seeking an On-Call Plans Examiner to review electrical plans and specifications for compliance with city, county, state, and federal codes during construction, remodeling, and repair projects.

This on-call position requires inspection of electrical installations, collaboration with contractors and inspectors, and participation in pre-hurricane preparations. A Journeyman license or EC certification and Florida code knowledge are essential.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid Journeyman Electrician or EC license or be eligible to obtain one.
• Five years of related work experience in electrical inspection or construction.
• Proficiency with the Florida Building Code and related standards.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical plans and codes; strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Examine electrical plans, blueprints, and specifications for compliance with applicable codes.
• Prepare comments and require corrections prior to plan approval.
• Perform on-site inspections of electrical installations in new construction, additions, or repairs.
• Assist contractors, owners, builders, and inspectors with questions and code interpretations.
• Participate in pre-hurricane preparations and post-storm recovery efforts.
