Job summary

The State of Washington, through the Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) FTAA, Maintenance and Operations Division, seeks an on-call Stationary Engineer 2 to support Eastern State Hospital and Lakeland Village in Medical Lake. This is specialized boiler work requiring hands-on operation of multiple boiler systems.

You will operate, monitor, and maintain high- and low-pressure steam boilers, hydronic heating boilers, and related equipment.

Qualifications

Three years of experience operating, maintaining, and/or repairing stationary or marine high‑pressure boilers and heating systems.
Completion of an advanced Stationary Engineer course from an accredited vocational/technical school or community college and two years of related experience.
One year of Washington State service as a Stationary Engineer 1

Responsibilities

Operate and maintain high- and low-pressure steam boiler plants safely and efficiently.
Monitor and repair boilers, gauges, valves, metering pumps, and electronic control and safety equipment.
Operate auxiliary boiler equipment including feedwater pumps, deaerators, air compressors, and chemical treatment pumps.
Troubleshoot boiler operations and combustion control systems.
Read schematics, drawings, and equipment manuals.
Test boiler equipment and safety systems.
Respond to after-hours boiler plant issues and notify management when needed.
