Job summary

Great Prairie AEA Ottumwa Office is hiring a Speech-Language Assistant On-Call Sub for the 2026-2027 school year. Starting pay ranges from $16.89 to $17.39 per hour with a mileage rate of $0.50 per mile. This role serves Region 3, including Ottumwa and surrounding districts, and requires travel between schools/sites.

The assistant provides articulation, language, voice and fluency services under the supervising SLP, with duties including materials prep and staff conferences.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to demonstrate positive interpersonal skills and cooperative teamwork.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Implements speech-language activities as directed by the SLP.
• Identifies and records correct/incorrect student responses.
• Maintains ongoing communication with the SLP.
• Assists the SLP in material preparation.
• Participates in conferences or staffings as requested by the SLP.
• Maintains confidentiality of all student information.
• Maintains data for LEA/AEA/state/federal reporting.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the SLP and Regional Director.
• Participates in staff development opportunities as requested.
