Great Prairie AEA Ottumwa Office is hiring a Speech-Language Assistant On-Call Sub for the 2026-2027 school year. This role serves Region 3, including Ottumwa and surrounding districts, and requires travel between schools/sites.

The assistant provides articulation, language, voice and fluency services under the supervising SLP, with duties including materials prep and staff conferences.

Qualifications

Region 3:Cardinal, Davis County, Moulton-Udell, Ottumwa, Ottumwa Christian and Seton Catholic.

Position Overview:

The Speech-Language Assistant provides articulation, language, voice and fluency services to students as specified by the assigned Speech-Language Pathologist.

Qualifications:

The Speech-Language Assistant must be at least 18 years of age and hold a high school diploma or its equivalent. The candidate must have the experience or capacity to demonstrate positive interpersonal skills, cooperative teamwork, and excellent written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities:

• Implements speech-language activities as directed by the Speech-Language Pathologist.
• Identifies and records correct/incorrect student responses.
• Maintain communication with assigned Speech-Language Pathologist on an ongoing basis.
• Assists Speech-Language Pathologist in material preparation.

• Assumes such other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the assigned Speech-Language Pathologist and the Regional Special Education Director.
• Participate in staff development opportunities as requested by the assigned Speech-Language Pathologist and the Regional Director.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to travel between schools/sites served.
• Normal, routine levels of activity related to bending, carrying, climbing, hearing, lifting, reaching, sitting, standing, vision and walking, and may also involve above-average levels of activity at times that can't always be anticipated.
