Job summary

ChanceLight Behavioral Health, Therapy, & Education is seeking an On-Call Substitute Teacher for our Special Education program serving grades K-5. You will deliver instruction, follow approved plans, and maintain a structured classroom to boost student achievement.

Ideal candidates hold a high school diploma or higher, with a preference for a Bachelor's in education and an AR substitute credential. Strong classroom management and the ability to work quickly in dynamic settings are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with passage of basic skills test.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in education or a closely related field preferred.
• Licensed AR substitute teaching credential preferred.
• Ability to obtain crisis management training certification.
• Prior experience providing instruction or support to children, preferably in an alternative, special education and/or behavioral health setting.
• Knowledge of special education services and differentiation/instruction.
• Experience with learners having learning disabilities and related conditions.
• Motivation and goal-setting conversations with students.
• Ability to stay calm and make independent decisions in emergencies.
• Strong prioritization, organization and deadline management.
• Excellent communication, conflict resolution, multitasking, problem solving.
• Knowledge of technology including MS Office, data entry, and basic equipment.

Responsibilities

• Deliver instruction using provided curriculum resources and approved software to ensure continuity of learning.
• Implement daily lesson plans and schedules reflecting standards and routines.
• Maintain a safe, structured learning environment with clear boundaries and consistency.
• Support diverse learners with accommodations and collaborate to reinforce goals.
• Partner with teachers and staff to ensure instructional delivery and classroom support.
• Monitor progress through observation, data collection and recording tools.
• Communicate with parents about progress and needs as appropriate.
• Participate in team meetings to address student support plans and concerns.
• Stay current on research-based practices and pursue professional development.
• Respond constructively to feedback with professionalism and adaptability.
• Perform other duties to support campus priorities and student-centered instruction.
