Job summary

The substitute works on an on-call basis aligned with the school calendar, reporting to the Director of Food Services. CORI and SAFIS background checks are required, and prior food service experience is beneficial.

Qualifications

• Able to communicate effectively and respectfully.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Ability to work with students, staff and Administration.
• Manual dexterity to handle knives and kitchen equipment such as slicers, mixers, steamers, ovens and dishwashers.
• Aptitude for fulfilling responsibilities as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Performs prep work such as washing, peeling, cutting fruits and vegetables.
• Weighs and measures designated ingredients.
• Cleans work areas, equipment and utensils.
• Provides exceptional customer service following steps of service.
• Cleans dishroom, kitchen and serving areas.
• Stores foods with proper wrapping, dating and rotation procedures.
• Operates POS for meals and snacks.
• Keeps accurate records of payments as needed.
• Replenishes condiments, beverages and supplies.
• Operates kitchen equipment (ovens, slicers, steamers, stoves, warmers, dishwashers).
• complies with CORI and SAFIS background checks.
• Follows safe food handling and sanitation guidelines.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Food Service.
