Job summary

Walla Walla Public Schools is seeking a substitute school bus driver in Walla Walla, WA to transport students to and from school and on field trips under the direction of the Transportation Director. The role is on-call and part-time, with paid training available.

Candidates must hold a High School diploma or GED and a valid Class B CDL with passenger endorsement; bilingual English/Spanish is preferred. The position requires safety awareness, reliable communication, and the ability to work

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• Must possess or have the ability to obtain a Class B CDL with passenger endorsement.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents.
• Flexible to constantly changing routes, pickup and drop-off times and locations.
• Knowledge of safety and security procedures.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the public.

Responsibilities

• Drive a school bus to transport students safely to and from school.
• Operate a school bus in weather conditions.
• Inspect and clean bus and related equipment; refuel as needed.
• Maintain control of student passengers and administer discipline as appropriate.
• Maintain a positive atmosphere on the school bus and be a role model.
• Complete forms and reports and update route maps.
• Utilize two-way radio to communicate with the transportation office.
• Perform safety inspections and report hazards to supervisors.
• Establish positive relationships with staff, students and the public.
