Job summary

Walla Walla Public Schools Transportation in Walla Walla, WA seeks a Substitute Bus Assistant on a part-time, on-call basis. You will assist the bus driver with transporting students, including those with special needs, and help with loading, safety restraints, and wheelchair equipment on routes and activities.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, CPR/First Aid readiness, and the ability to follow safety procedures while coordinating with the Transportation Director and school staff.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Valid First Aid card incl. CPR preferred or required.
• Fingerprinting and background check required.
• Ability to assist students with special needs and wheelchairs.

Responsibilities

• Assist bus driver on routes and trips in support of district activities.
• Maintain control of student passengers and report unsafe acts.
• Assist ambulatory and wheelchair-bound students loading/unloading and seat-belting.
• Operate bus elevator lifts and apply restraints where needed.
• Provide first aid and attend trainings as necessary.
• Communicate with district staff about student behavior and safety.
