Shelter House in Fairfax, VA is hiring a Residential Coordinator (On-Call) to oversee the domestic violence shelter during awake shifts. This role is the first point of contact for residents, handling crisis interventions and coordinating with case managers to support individual safety plans.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED and 2+ years in human services, with strong communication skills and evening/weekend availability.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 2+ years of experience in human services.
• Ability to build strong working relationships with clients and team members.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Willingness to work evenings and weekends when needed.
• Preferred: Bachelor's in human services / related field.
• Experience in programs serving victims of domestic violence is a plus.
• Experience in a residential environment is a plus.
• Current CPR/First aid certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide 24-hour awake coverage and supervise the shelter environment.
• Act as first point of contact for client needs and support; crisis intervention as needed.
• Maintain and document daily interactions and safety plans in logs.
• Collaborate with case managers to support client service plans and progress.
• Accompany clients to court and appointments to support goals.
• Ensure proper shift handoffs and daily activity reporting for consistency.
• Administer medication delivery and assist with security as required.
• Participate in staff meetings and trainings as directed.
