Job summary

SOME (So Others Might Eat) in West Virginia is seeking an On-Call Residential Assistant to provide monitoring and supportive services in residential facilities. The role covers fluctuating shifts: evening, overnight, weekend, and holidays, with transport duties for residents to meetings and events.

You will work under a supervisor who values confidentiality and crisis management, helping residents with daily needs, safety, and adherence to house rules.

Qualifications

• HS Degree/GED required.
• 1–3 years experience in social services.
• Experience providing services in addictions or mental health treatment.

Responsibilities

• Provides monitoring and oversight of residential/transitional housing facilities and residents.
• Reports crisis situations, emergencies, and maintenance issues to an on‑call person.
• Appropriate handling of emergencies and/or de‑escalating crisis situations as they arise.
• Available to residents during the assigned shift for support as needed.
• Facilitates/conducts designated group sessions scheduled during shift.
• Monitors residents’ compliance with rules and regulations and gives appropriate consequences.
• Responsible for overseeing client self‑medication administration.
• Maintains resident confidentiality.
• Receives report at the start of shift and gives a report at the end of shift.
• Transports residents in a SOME vehicle to and from AA/NA meetings and supervises residents while away from the facility; transports clients to Washington DC for graduation.
• All documentation is done accurately and completely on a daily basis.
• Maintains up‑to‑date first aid & CPR certifications.
