Job summary

Florida Gulf Coast University seeks a Student Resident Assistant (RA) within Housing and Residence Life. RAs are student leaders who support residents, build community, and uphold university policies.

They serve as role models, enforce the Community Guidebook, respond to incidents on-call, participate in trainings and meetings, and complete administrative tasks such as reports and inspections. RAs must work at least 20 hours per week, maintain a minimum GPA, and keep good conduct standing while

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in at least one FGCU course.
• Must maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0.
• Must be in good conduct standing with the university.
• Must be able to work a minimum of three shifts per week (9 hours total).

Responsibilities

• Serve as a positive role model and representative of Housing & Residence Life.
• Support the mission and residential curriculum.
• Build community through engagement, programming, and resident connections.
• Enforce policies and educate residents on the Community Guidebook and Student Code of Conduct.
• Respond to incidents and emergencies during on-call rotations.
• Attend trainings, weekly staff meetings, and major events.
• Complete administrative tasks including reports, room checks, health and safety inspections, and desk shifts (min 20 hours per week).
• Maintain regular communication with supervisors and campus partners.
• Maintain good academic and conduct standing (minimum GPA).
• Prioritize the RA role above other commitments and comply with employment guidelines.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
