Job summary

Florida Gulf Coast University is seeking a Student Resident Assistant in Housing and Residence Life. RAs serve as student leaders, support residents, build community, and uphold university policies.

Responsibilities include engaging residents, enforcing rules, responding to incidents on-call, attending trainings, and completing admin tasks. The role requires enrollment, minimum GPA, and availability for shifts, including weekends and nights.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in at least one FGCU course.
• Must maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0.
• Must be in good conduct standing with the university.
• Must be able to work a minimum of three shifts a week (9 hours total).

Responsibilities

• Serve as a positive role model and representative of Housing & Residence Life and the University at all times.
• Support the mission, vision, and residential curriculum of Housing & Residence Life.
• Build community within the assigned residence hall through intentional engagement and resident connections.
• Enforce and educate residents on University policies and the Student Code of Conduct.
• Respond to incidents and emergencies while on-call, maintaining required response times.
• Attend and participate in required trainings, weekly staff meetings, and major events.
• Complete administrative tasks including reports, room checks, health and safety inspections, and desk shifts (minimum 20 hours per week).
• Maintain regular communication with supervisors and collaborate with staff and campus partners.
• Maintain good academic and conduct standing, including a minimum 2.50 semester and cumulative GPA and required enrollment status.
• Prioritize the RA role above other non-academic commitments and comply with outside employment guidelines.
