Job summary

Oak View Group (OVG) seeks a Banquet Server to deliver professional food and beverage service during events at the Sioux Falls Convention Center. The on-call position focuses on welcoming guests, executing meal service per event specifications, and maintaining cleanliness and organization throughout service.

The role requires ability to handle fast-paced service, lift and transport heavy items, and adapt to guest needs while upholding high standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED strongly preferred; equivalent experience may be substituted.
• 6 months to 1 year of work experience in events, banquets, or restaurants preferred.
• Must be able to lift, push, pull, or carry heavy objects often; capable of carrying at least 8 entrees per tray.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and select holidays.
• Knowledge of basic arithmetic (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division).
• Must be punctual with consistent attendance.
• Must be able to respond to simple complaints or inquiries from customers.

Responsibilities

• Reads and understands banquet event orders.
• Provides fine‑dining‑level food and beverage service to guests for all events, consistent with standards of service.
• Initiates and maintains friendly and professional contact with guests, ensuring that all needs are anticipated and met.
• Setup and maintain both food and beverage stations in various locations throughout the building consistent with standards of service.
• Maintain an inventory for both food and beverage stations.
• Maintain all event areas and front‑of‑house staging areas in a tidy and organized manner.
• Participate in both the setup and cleanup of food and beverage service items.
• Works independently during slower times.
