Quest Diagnostics Incorporated in Murphy, NC seeks a Phlebotomist II for an on-call role. You will collect specimens, ensure accurate labeling and data entry, and support transport of samples in a clinical lab setting.

The position requires three years of phlebotomy experience, strong data-entry skills, and flexibility for weekends, holidays, on-call shifts, and overtime. A valid driver’s license and reliability are important, with certification preferred in some states.

Qualifications

• Three years phlebotomy experience required, inclusive of pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
• Keyboard/data entry experience.
• Flexible and available based on staffing needs, which includes weekends, holidays, on-call and overtime.
• Must have reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and clean driving record, if applicable.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Medical training: medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
• Phlebotomy certification preferred. Required in California, Nevada, and Washington.

Responsibilities

• Collect specimens according to established procedures, including drug screens, biometric screenings and insurance exams.
• Administer oral solutions according to established training.
• Research test/client information and confirm and verify orders using lab systems and approved tools.
• Navigate a computer and accurately enter data as required.
• Obtain identification and accurately enter billing information, collecting payments when required.
• Process specimens: labeling, centrifuging, aliquoting, freezing and preparing for transport.
• Perform non-patient facing duties: inventory, stocking supplies, sanitizing, filing, phones and email.
• Read, understand and comply with departmental policies, protocols and procedures.
• Assist with compilation and submission of statistics and data.
• Maintain phlebotomy logs and related documentation in a timely manner.
• Complete online and in-person training courses timely.
