Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health's Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, NJ, seeks an On-Call Infusion Center Registered Nurse to support oncology patients receiving chemotherapy and complex treatments. The role emphasizes patient education, assessment, and multidisciplinary collaboration.

You will administer chemotherapy, monitor responses, and coordinate care with a cancer care team, ensuring safety and compassionate support for patients and families.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with active New Jersey RN license.
• BSN preferred or current matriculation toward BSN.
• BLS certification required or must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
• IV certification from an approved facility or within 90 days of hire.
• Chemotherapy/biotherapy certification through ONS required for nurses administering chemotherapy.
• If no OCN certification, complete 12 oncology CE credits annually as per CAC guidelines.
• On-Call Infusion RN role supports The Infusion Center at Melchiorre Cancer Center.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive assessments and reassessments for oncology patients and develop individualized plans of care.
• Safely administer and monitor chemotherapy/biotherapy per policies and standards.
• Care for patients with hematologic/oncologic needs including complex chemotherapy.
• Manage peripheral/central lines, blood draws, and dressing changes.
• Recognize emergencies and initiate appropriate interventions.
• Provide education to patients and families about treatment plans and side effects.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, social services, and discharge planners.
• Maintain accurate documentation and medication reconciliation.
• May assume Charge Nurse responsibilities when delegated.
