Job summary

MTM Transit is seeking an On-Call Mobility Assessment Evaluator to ensure fair and timely ADA paratransit eligibility determinations, supporting independence and appropriate use of fixed-route transportation when possible.

Ideal candidates have clinical or social-services backgrounds with strong interviewing, assessment, and written communication skills, along with experience in regulated programs and ADA-related eligibility processes.

Why This Role Matters

The On-Call Transportation Accessibility Specialist (will be called an On- Call Mobility Assessment Evaluator or MAE per the contract), will help ensure individuals with disabilities and older adults receive fair, accurate, and timely ADA paratransit eligibility determinations, while also supporting independence and appropriate use of fixed-route public transportation whenever possible.

This role is intentionally designed to attract professionals from clinical disciplines and social-services or human-services backgrounds. Whether your strengths lie in functional assessment, clinical observation, interviewing, advocacy, or structured decision‑making, your work will directly shape equitable mobility outcomes.

This position is located at WMATA Transit Accessibility Center at 300 7th St SW Washington, DC 20024.

What you’ll need:

Bachelor’s degree in Social Services, Rehabilitation, Healthcare, or a related field

3+ years of professional experience working with individuals with disabilities and/or older adults

Related experience with regard to the functional assessment of individuals with disabilities along with experience working with individuals with disabilities

Experience documenting decisions within regulated or compliance‑driven programs

Experience with ADA programs, eligibility determination, &/or public benefits

Skills:

• Strong interviewing, assessment, and observational skills


• Knowledge of or ability to develop expertise in ADA complementary paratransit eligibility regulations


• Ability to administer standardized evaluation tools consistently and accurately


• Clear written communication for reports and eligibility determination letters


• Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)


• Strong organizational and multi‑tasking abilities


• Ability to work independently with limited supervision


• High standards for confidentiality and data integrity


• Additional language skills are a plus

Even better if you have…

• Knowledge of public transportation systems preferred


• OT, PT, or COTA certification or licensure, preferred


• 5+ years of post‑licensure clinical experience, preferred


• CPR and First Aid certification, preferred


• Possess a continuously valid US driver’s license, preferred

Min Salary: $25/hr

Max Salary: $25/hr
