Job summary

Rush Truck Centers in Columbus, GA seeks an Experienced Mobile Diesel Technician to support client fleets with on-site maintenance and service calls, delivering expedited expertise directly to customer trucks and equipment.

Qualifications

• Five years' experience as a Class 7 & 8 technician in a dealership or related truck service facility.
• Current CDL preferred but not required.
• Medical card as required by the FMV(S).
• Mechanical aptitude and technical ability is a must.
• Peterbilt, International, Ford, Hino, Isuzu, Cummins, & ASE certifications are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain all aspects of equipment according to company standards.
• Handle basic maintenance of the truck including fueling, oil checks, cleanliness, and inspections.
• Manage inventory on the service truck and stock levels.
• Report to the Service Manager and follow daily duties.
• Maintain availability for after-hours service calls and open work schedule.
• Maintain and inventory the supplied tools for the work required.
• Read job orders and assess vehicle operation to plan procedures.
• Use diagnostic equipment to determine malfunctions and perform repairs.
• Diagnose and replace components such as injectors, bearings, brakes, and transmissions.
• Document and enter work performed in the mobile service program.
• Inspect safety devices and adjust as needed.
• Lubricate moving parts and road-test repaired vehicles.
• Perform preventative maintenance as requested.
• Document paperwork accurately and timely.
• Respond to customer inquiries and build positive relations.
• Advise customers on repairs to be performed within 3 months.
• Participate in training and apply it to work.
