Job summary

Magellan Health is seeking a Personal Financial Counselor to provide on-installation financial counseling to service members and families. The role covers one-on-one counseling, group workshops, and coordination with unit leadership and POCs, including virtual counseling options as required by the DoD.

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree, 5+ years in financial counseling, U.S. citizenship, fluent English, and relevant AFC/CFP/ChFC certifications.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of financial counseling experience.
• U.S. citizen and fluent English.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish if required by contract.
• Bachelor's degree required.
• Certifications AFC, CFP, or ChFC are required per contract.

Responsibilities

• Provides personal financial counseling and management services to service members and families.
• Assists in creating spending plans for extended absences.
• Develops and distributes informational financial materials for service members and families.
• Coordinates and promotes Personal Financial Management classes/workshops across the military lifecycle.
• Uses virtual counseling or secure online tools as needed per DoD protocols.
• Maintains DoD protocol in duty-to-warn situations and communicates with leadership.
• Participates in regular supervision and contract activities; supports continuous improvement.
