Job summary

RiverView Health in Crookston, MN is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist (PRN) to support patient care by performing high-quality laboratory testing. This on-call/ as-needed role is based at the Crookston Lab, with pay ranging from $26.54 to $37.16 per hour.

The MLS will handle pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical testing, follow SOPs, and ensure safety and regulatory compliance. Qualifications include MLS or MLT certification (or registry eligibility) and BLS; preferred LIS/EHR

Qualifications

• MLS - bachelors degree in laboratory or biological sciences or an associate's degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or equivalent.
• National certification for MLS/MLT through ASCP or registry eligible; MT certification acceptable.
• Registry eligible candidates must complete the Board of Registry exam within 6 months of employment.
• BLS certification required; RiverView will offer training within 6 months of employment.
• Preferred: 2+ years’ healthcare experience in any field.
• Preferred: 1+ years of clinical laboratory experience across multiple disciplines (hematology, chemistry, microbiology, etc.).
• Preferred: 2+ years LIS and EHR experience (Epic or similar).

Responsibilities

• Responsible for pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical phases of testing.
• Follows standard operating procedures for MLS/MLT.
• Ensures laboratory safety, quality and regulatory requirements are met.
• Recognizes safety hazards and complies with safety practices and protocols.
• Collects and processes lab specimens with proper equipment.
• Performs clinical laboratory testing, including manual and automated methods.
• Collects and manages samples of blood and other fluids from patients.

Education

MLS - bachelor's degree in laboratory or biological sciences or an associate's degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or equivalent.

National certification for Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) through an approved agency (ASCP) or registry eligible; MT certification acceptable.

Board of Registry exam within 6 months of employment (for registry-eligible candidates)
