Job summary

University of South Carolina seeks an Interpersonal Violence Advocate to support survivors of sexual assault, gender-based and intimate partner violence, stalking and harassment. You will provide confidential advocacy, coordinate campus and community resources, and participate in on-call duty to respond to hotline calls, with an empowerment-based, trauma-informed approach.

Qualifications

• Requires a bachelor’s degree in a job related field and 3 or more years of job related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in health promotion/education, public health, social work, or related field
• Master’s degree preferred
• Experience working with victims/survivors of interpersonal violence.

Responsibilities

• Serves a part of an on-call team that answers and responds to calls on the 24/7 hotline for a designated period during business hours and after hours through the on-call rotation.
• Provide confidential and comprehensive advocacy services that are empowerment-based and trauma-informed for primary and secondary survivors of interpersonal violence (sexual assault, relationship/intimate partner violence, stalking and harassment).
• Functions as liaison for survivors with campus and/or community partners. Coordinates campus and community resources to support survivors including emergency housing, food, clothing, transportation, and other appropriate assistance.
• Ensure data is up-to-date and in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
• Participate in regular professional development opportunities offered by campus, state, and national resources.
