Job summary

University of Utah seeks a Victim Advocate to provide advocacy for survivors of sexual assault, relationship violence, and stalking on campus. You will support victims through criminal justice processes, coordinate with UUPD, and refer to campus resources, with on-call duties as needed.

The role requires crisis intervention, case management, and knowledge of applicable laws. A strong background in counseling and collaboration with campus entities is essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, or related field; equivalency accepted.
  • Two years’ experience providing direct service case management and crisis intervention for survivors.
  • Utah State Certified Victim Advocate (40 Hour Trained) required.
  • MSW or related field and knowledge of federal campus regulations preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as point of contact for victims of crime on campus; resource and referral for students, faculty and staff.
  • Provides case management and advocacy through university processes and judicial systems.
  • Uses UUPD RMS for case management.
  • Functions as a resource within university systems (registrar, financial aid, etc.).
  • Participates in campus and community committees and task forces.
  • Advises on campus policy development regarding sexual violence (VAWA, Title IX, Campus Security Act).
  • Provides referrals to counseling and health services for victims.
  • Collaborates with campus and community organizations to support survivors.
  • Assists in filing protective orders and attends related hearings.
