Job summary

Westin Pasadena is seeking an On-Call Maintenance Engineer to maintain building systems and the building envelope, ensuring safety for guests and staff. The role requires hands-on maintenance across HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and carpentry disciplines with a focus on energy efficiency and compliance with health and safety standards.

Responsibilities include preventative maintenance, routine and minor repairs, and assisting with major repairs.

Qualifications

• Vocational schooling, military training, certification and/or experience in building trades (HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Carpentry).
• Hotel experience preferred.
• Must be able to lift 25–50 lbs with or without accommodation.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with preventative maintenance and complete work orders (e.g., replace ceiling tiles, light bulbs, patch vinyl).
• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (e.g., room care).
• Check electrical systems: air conditioning controls, TVs, lighting; perform minor repairs.
• Assist with repairs on hotel equipment including appliances, kitchen, laundry, boilers, HVAC, plumbing fixtures.
• Service the hotel's pool: adjust chemicals, clean filters, log maintenance.
• Maintain exterior/curb appeal: snow removal, lawn care, painting, gardening.
• Refurbish furniture/fixtures in guest rooms (cabinets, tables, chairs, doors, windows, counters).
• Move furniture/fixtures throughout building.
• Answer guest questions and requests courteously to ensure satisfaction.
• Exposure to extreme temperatures; operation of heavy machinery.
• Adhere to attendance rules and be available regularly.
