Job summary

Rochester Regional Health is seeking a Chaplain to provide spiritual and emotional support within Unity Hospital's Pastoral Care department. The role requires commuting to the hospital within 30 minutes, with on-call shifts including evenings, overnights, and weekends.

The position involves regular patient visits, inter-disciplinary collaboration, and participation in care teams to integrate spiritual care with medical treatment. A Master’s in Theology and CPE experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• One unit of Clinical Pastoral Education is required.

Responsibilities

• Makes regular visits to assigned RRH patient units.
• Responds to referrals from the medical and nursing staff, social worker, and other support staff personnel.
• Responds to requests from families for spiritual/emotional support for the patient and/or themselves.
• Attends interdisciplinary meetings of care teams to integrate spiritual care with other disciplines and build strong working relationships.
• Provides spiritual and emotional support to RRH as deemed necessary.
• Addresses ethical issues relating to patients, families and staff with knowledge and concern for well-being.
• Assists the patient’s own clergyperson in meeting responsibilities to their parishioner, with permission.
• Serves on hospital committees and task forces, as requested.
• Leads in-service presentations on relevant issues to promote staff awareness and education.
• Relays problems/concerns to Leadership.
• Provides on-call coverage overnight and weekends as needed.
