Job summary

BrightSpring Health Services is seeking an On-Call RN for Hospice of North Alabama in Florence, AL. The role involves after-hours responsibility in end-of-life care, providing 1:1 patient support, symptom relief, and collaboration with a triage team to ensure seamless patient and family experiences.

Applicants should be a graduate of an accredited nursing program, hold an RN license in Alabama, and bring hospice experience or a strong commitment to the philosophy of palliative care.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program with current licensure to practice in the state of operation.
• One year nursing experience required, 3+ years preferred.
• Experience in hospice or similar setting preferred.
• Knowledge of the hospice philosophy of care.
• Commitment to clinical and documentation excellence.
• Must be a licensed driver with insured vehicle in good working order.

Responsibilities

• On-call RN will collaborate with Remote Triage On Call Team to deliver hands-on hospice care during after-hours.
• Assess and manage urgent symptoms quickly and compassionately.
• Administer medication or adjust care based on hospice protocols or orders.
• Communicate with the physician regarding changes in condition and obtain orders as necessary.
• Offer guidance and support to patients and families in understanding current condition and next steps.
• If death occurs during on-call hours, pronounce death, provide family support, and notify hospice team.
• Complete timely documentation and communication.
