Job summary

Hospice of North Alabama is seeking an on-call RN to provide 1:1 end-of-life care in Florence, AL, serving Franklin, Winston, Marion, and Fayette counties. You will work evenings and weekends, delivering hands-on nursing care and supporting families in a compassionate environment.

The role emphasizes timely symptom management, documentation, and coordination with physicians. On-call shifts offer autonomy with team support and opportunities for professional growth.

Qualifications

• Graduate of accredited nursing school with current RN licensure in Alabama.
• 1 year nursing experience required, 3+ years preferred.
• Experience in hospice or a similar setting preferred.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to travel as needed.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Remote Triage On Call Team to deliver hands-on care to hospice patients during after-hours.
• Assess and manage urgent symptoms quickly and compassionately.
• Administer medications or adjust care per hospice protocols or orders.
• Communicate with physicians regarding changes in condition and obtain orders as necessary.
• Provide guidance and support to patients and families to understand current condition and next steps.
• Pronounce death when necessary during on-call hours and coordinate with funeral home and hospice team.
