Job summary

Hospice of North Alabama is seeking an On-Call RN to provide compassionate, one-on-one end-of-life care in Florence, AL, covering off-hours across several nearby counties. You will collaborate with the remote triage team to deliver hands-on care and support families during after-hours shifts.

The role requires an active RN license in Alabama with 1 year of nursing experience (3+ years preferred) and hospice experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program with active Alabama state licensure.
• One year nursing experience required, three+ years preferred.
• Experience in hospice or similar setting preferred.
• Commitment to clinical documentation excellence.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Remote Triage On Call Team to deliver hands-on care to hospice patients and support families after hours.
• Assess and manage urgent symptoms quickly and compassionately.
• Administer medications or adjust care per hospice protocols or provider orders.
• Communicate with the physician regarding changes in condition and obtain orders as needed.
• Provide guidance to patients and families about current condition and next steps.
• Pronounce death if it occurs during on-call hours, assist family, notify hospice team, and coordinate with funeral home.
