Job summary

Clean Harbors in East Chicago, IN is seeking an Environmental Field Laborer to join our safety conscious team. This role will be active in the field responsible for the performance of tasks associated with hazardous waste clean-up, site-remediation, equipment decontamination and handling of hazardous materials.

Team members will be primarily responsible for safe and compliant transfer of bulk materials from tankers to railcars.

Qualifications

Reliable transportation is required to fulfill field duties.
Ability to perform physical functions per key responsibilities.
On-call emergency response with possible weekend/holiday work.
Background check, drug test, and medical examination required per position.
Compliance with OSHA respiratory protection standards is mandatory.

Responsibilities

Ensure health and safety is the number one goal by following policies.
Engage in strenuous physical labor including lifting and pulling heavy objects.
Operate light and heavy equipment and use various hand tools and powered tools.
Wear and properly use PPE, including respirators and protective gear.
Work in various temperatures indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
Work with hazardous and non-hazardous waste in compliance with regulations.
Attend compliance and safety update meetings.
On-call for emergency response on rotating basis.
Site remediation, equipment decontamination and handling of hazardous materials as assigned.
Assist in field sampling and calibration of meters.
