Job summary

Tumwater School District is seeking a Substitute Grounds Maintenance Worker to support our district grounds team at various locations. Work days and hours vary to meet district needs, with a pay rate of $26.04 per hour.

The position is continuing and open until filled, with potential for additional assignments as needed. The role requires a high school diploma or GED, a Washington driver’s license, and background clearance; two years of turf or irrigation experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED, Valid Washington State Driver’s license and State/FBI background clearance required.
• Two years of experience in turf management, heavy equipment operation, or irrigation system installation/repair is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate hand tools and motorized equipment such as weed trimmers, mowers, hedge trimmers, and loaders.
• Maintain and repair district grounds, including landscaping, playing fields, and irrigation systems.
• Assist fulltime staff with playground repairs, herbicide spraying, and fertilizing.
• Prepare athletic fields for practices and games and perform general grounds maintenance.
• Maintain custodial areas, load/unload supplies, and assist with snow/ice removal when needed.
