Job summary

State of Washington, Washington Soldiers Home in Orting, WA, is seeking an On-Call Food Service Worker (FSW) to support dining services for veterans. This role requires flexibility to work multiple shifts and maintain high standards of food safety and sanitation.

You will prepare, serve, and assist with food distribution in a residential care setting, ensuring nutritional needs are met while adhering to state policies and procedures. This position is on-call and not eligible for telework.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English to perform job duties effectively.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must possess a valid Washington state food worker card.
• Agency Required Competencies: take action to learn and grow; take action to meet the needs of others.

Responsibilities

• Distribute food in a safe, sanitary manner and meet residents' nutritional needs.
• Serve food following serving guides and recipes, on lines or cafeteria.
• Follow safe food handling practices and sanitize equipment and areas.
• Be able to lift up to 60 lbs., and work shifts as needed on a rotational basis.
• Support on-call staffing needs with minimum three shifts per week across two shifts.
