Job summary

WSP USA is seeking On-Call Field Archaeologists for multiple surveys across Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, and Arkansas. This is an on-call, temporary hourly position with starting pay around $22/hour, depending on experience. Local candidates in TX, OK, or LA are preferred, but all qualified applicants will be considered.

Responsibilities include pedestrian surveys, shovel-test excavation, artifact recovery, and meticulous data recording. Travel to project sites will be required.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in anthropology/archaeology or closely related field.
• 0–2 years of archaeological or anthropology-related experience.
• Self-motivated and physically able to conduct fieldwork in all weather.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
• Proficiency with business writing and standard office software.

Responsibilities

• Assist with Phase I Intensive Cultural Resources Surveys including pedestrian survey and shovel-test excavations.
• Record and identify artifacts, document soil color and textures, and complete field forms.
• Collaborate effectively as part of a field team and adhere to codes of conduct and safety policies.
