Job summary

Outagamie County is seeking a Mechanic/Maintenance Facility Technician to support building and grounds maintenance, respond to emergencies, and keep equipment running. The role reports to the Shop Foreman and Equipment/Facilities Superintendent and requires flexibility for after-hours calls and seasonal schedule changes.

Ideal candidates have a valid CDL with N endorsement, strong troubleshooting skills, and experience with carpentry, plumbing or electrical work.

Qualifications

• High School graduate with specialized classes in industrial arts or building trades.
• Valid CDL Class A, B, C or D with N (Tanker) endorsement or ability to obtain within two years.
• Two years of construction, remodeling or maintenance experience with carpentry, plumbing, masonry or electrical work.

Responsibilities

• Report to work after hours to respond to emergencies and highway conditions.
• Repair tires and tire chains for highway vehicles and provide road service.
• Maintain appearance of buildings and grounds, including cleaning and mowing.
• Requisition inventory for tires and tire chains as needed.
• Operate and maintain tools for maintenance tasks (hand, power, carpentry, plumbing).
• Troubleshoot boilers, HVAC, plumbing, electrical and other systems; perform minor repairs.
• Perform minor plumbing and electrical repairs; replace piping and fixtures.
• Communicate with field staff and supervisors to diagnose issues and complete tasks.
• Provide on-call coverage as assigned and maintain attendance.
