Qualifications

• High school diploma and valid driver’s license preferred.
• Prior experience in safety, security, parking control or crowd control is desirable.
• Strong inter-personal skills and experience with conflict resolution is preferred.
• Knowledge of the Middlebury College campus and college policies is desirable.
• First Aid, CPR & AED training is desirable.
• Must handle confidential matters with appropriate discretion and pass a background check.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Special Events Staff employees work on an on-call, part-time basis.
• Must be able to stand for long hours and work outside in all types of weather.

Responsibilities

• Provides parking control and direction in parking lots for athletic competitions, commencement and other large campus events.
• Provides crowd control to ensure compliance with space capacities, laws and college policies.
• Works with Public Safety staff to observe and report suspicious activity while providing site security for events.
• Promotes positive relations with the campus community and guests of the college.
• Utilizes problem-solving, mediation and de-escalation strategies when dealing with the public.
• Must work collaboratively, as a team member or independently, and follow supervisor directions.
• Must have strong inter-personal skills and the ability to provide directions and information to attendees.
• Addresses minor complaints related to parking or event requirements and directs larger concerns to supervisors.
• Must be dependable, responsible and exercise good judgment in duties.
