Job summary

BOCC Bay County Board of County Commissioners is seeking a skilled journeyman electrician to perform installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems across county facilities. The role includes interpreting blueprints, ensuring compliance with codes, and performing preventive maintenance.

The position requires two years of journeyman experience and a high school diploma, with occasional after-hours work and on-call duties throughout the year.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or the equivalent; AND Two (2) years’ experience as a journeyman level electrician.
• Comparable amount of training and/or experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Performs general and specialized tasks in construction, renovation, modification, installation, and repair of buildings, equipment, apparatus, and facilities.
• Installs, maintains, and enhances electrical systems and components, including fuses, lights, ballasts, and wiring.
• Inspects, tests, and diagnoses issues with electrical systems and components.
• Performs all work in a manner that meets and follows electrical codes, blueprints, and standards.
• Tests electrical systems and components to ensure proper functioning.
• Performs preventive maintenance on electrical systems and components.
• Troubleshoots problems and makes timely repairs.
• Completes required documentation of repairs and service information in a computerized maintenance management system.
• Assists other trades workers when required.
• Available to perform occasional work beyond normal hours; on-call duty during designated times.
