Job summary

Windham Public Schools is seeking an on-call Custodian / District Supporter to maintain a clean, safe, and attractive environment for students, staff, and the public throughout the District.

The position reports to the Director of Facilities and requires a high school diploma or GED, the ability to lift heavy objects, climb ladders, and strong communication skills. Duties include cleaning, outdoor maintenance, event support, and safety reporting.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED.
• Knowledge of proper cleaning practices in an educational environment.
• Ability to follow directions with minimal supervision.
• Ability to work cooperatively with staff and students.
• Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physically demanding tasks.

Responsibilities

• Conforms to all Board policies and regulations.
• Keeps buildings clean and safe, including sidewalks and play areas.
• Performs cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and trash removal.
• Operates outdoor maintenance tasks like snow/ice removal and grounds care.
• Assists with events and building use, including setup and cleanup.
• Reports hazards or needed repairs to the Head Custodian.
• Maintains custodial closets and storerooms.
• Performs minor maintenance and safety checks.
• Works with other district staff and the public.
