Job summary

Project Open Hand in San Francisco and Oakland is seeking a Custodian, On-call to perform general maintenance and custodial duties at our facilities (excluding the kitchen). The role ensures a clean, safe environment for staff, volunteers, and clients across multiple locations.

This on-call, non-exempt position requires 1+ year of janitorial experience, flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays, and a valid California driver’s license.

Qualifications

• 1+ year experience in a janitorial or maintenance position with knowledge of cleaning procedures and safe use of supplies.
• Ability to understand and communicate in English (oral and written).
• A valid California Driver's License and clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Daily custodial tasks: vacuuming, trash removal, cleaning of surfaces and windows.
• Keep elevators, stairwells, lobby areas clean and free of debris.
• Clean restrooms safely and refill supplies daily.
• Assist with break rooms and break room refrigerator cleaning.
• Move equipment and furniture as needed and assist with in-house repairs.
