Job summary

KQED Inc. in San Francisco seeks On-Call Custodial/Event Staff to maintain cleanliness and support events in our facilities. This in-person role requires attention to detail, reliability, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

You will perform cleaning, setup, and safety duties, assist with event spaces, and collaborate with staff to ensure a welcoming environment for staff, visitors, and attendees. Flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays is needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; vocational or technical training is a plus.
• Proven experience in custodial services, event support, or related field.
• Knowledge of cleaning techniques, equipment, and materials.
• Strong communication skills and professional interaction with staff, visitors, and event attendees.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Physical stamina to lift heavy objects and perform repetitive tasks.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by event schedules.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine cleaning tasks in offices, restrooms, conference rooms, and common areas.
• Empty trash and recycling, maintain cleanliness standards.
• Clean and maintain floor surfaces; replenish restroom supplies.
• Assist with set up and teardown of event spaces and signage.
• Provide support during events and monitor rooms as needed.
• Collaborate with staff to ensure smooth event execution.
• Inspect designated areas for maintenance needs and report hazards.
• Follow safety procedures and health regulations in all activities.
