Silverado Alexandria, a memory care innovator, is hiring a PRN Cook to join our culinary team. Help nourish our senior residents with flexible hours that fit your schedule, while delivering meals that meet dietary needs and promote health and happiness.

We're looking for a dependable, learning-minded team player with at least 1 year of cooking experience, a Food Handlers Certificate, and a commitment to safety.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 1 year of food preparation and cooking experience.
• Food Handlers Certificate required.
• Knowledge of food safety regulations.
• Effective verbal and written English communication.
• Ability to read and follow menus and recipes.
• Willingness to work with residents with Alzheimer’s and dementia.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand long periods.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve meals for residents per dietary needs.
• Ensure quality, presentation, and timeliness of meals.
• Modify meals to meet nutritional requirements.
• Maintain kitchen cleanliness and safety standards.
• Support culinary team with additional duties as needed.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Prepare and serve meals for residents in accordance with dietary needs
• Ensure accuracy, quality, presentation, and timeliness of food items
• Modify meals as directed to meet individual nutritional requirements
• Maintain cleanliness and safety standards in the kitchen
• Perform other duties as needed to support the culinary team

Qualifications:

• High school diploma, GED or educational equivalent required
• Minimum 1 year of experience in food preparation and cooking (grilling, sautéing, broiling, frying, baking)
• Food Handlers Certificate from the County Department of Environmental Health
• Knowledge of food safety regulations
• Effective communicator in verbal and written English
• Ability to read and follow menus and recipes, including substitutions
• Willingness to work with individuals with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia
• Active role: walking, bending, lifting (up to 50 lbs.)
• Reliable transportation to meet attendance and punctuality standards
• Comfortable working around animals and pets

Anticipated pay range

$18 - $21 USD
