Job summary

The Culinary Academy of Las Vegas (CALV) on-call Cook position is based at the CALV Campus in North Las Vegas, NV. The role involves preparing diverse items, following recipes, maintaining sanitation standards, and coordinating with the Executive Chef to ensure smooth kitchen operations.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED and at least two years of cooking experience with solid knowledge of kitchen equipment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; equivalent combinations may be considered.
• Minimum of two (2) years of cooking experience and strong knowledge of essential kitchen equipment.
• Experience and Education substitutions: None.

Responsibilities

• Prepare hot and cold items and demonstrate cooking techniques.
• Follow recipes and menus accurately.
• Rotate inventory using first-in, first-out.Follow sanitation and health regulations per CALV requirements.
• Coordinate with Executive Chef on production lists and schedules.
• Maintain logs for temperature and tasting checks.
• Inform Chef of shortages or excess items for daily specials or prep.
