Job summary

Hood College is seeking an on-call Campus Safety Patrol Officer to support student success through vigilant security and service. The role requires available shifts, background checks, and the ability to work weekends, holidays, and special events.

You will perform safety patrols, respond to emergencies, assist with access control and incident reporting, and contribute to crime prevention and campus safety outreach. This is an on-call, non-exempt position in Frederick, MD.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED and 2-3 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Campus security experience is ideal; security experience preferred.
• Proficiency with MS Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, email and Internet).

Responsibilities

• Makes routine foot and vehicular patrols.
• Investigates suspicious activity and writes incident reports per department regulations.
• Responds to routine and emergency calls; conducts shift-change briefings.
• Monitors campus traffic and parking; issues citations and vehicle registrations.
• Provides security for special events and assists with fire safety awareness.
