Job summary

Argonaut Hotel in San Francisco is seeking a friendly Busser to support the Blue Mermaid Restaurant and patio areas. You will help maintain dining room flow, set tables, and assist servers with efficient service.

We value initiative and reliability; prior bussing is not required and training is provided. A flexible schedule including weekends and holidays is available to fit our team’s needs.

Qualifications

  • Previous bussing experience is not required.
  • Able to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Willing to work weekends/holidays; AM/PM shifts.
  • Proactive, takes initiative to solve problems.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee table maintenance and support servers in the restaurant and patio areas.
  • Prepare dining room for patrons by cleaning and arranging tables and supplies.
  • Maintain menu presentation and replenish utensils and water glasses.
  • Assist with setting up and replenishing condiment stands and bus stations.
  • Close the dining facility by cleaning areas and removing waste.
  • Participate in staff training and seek ways to add value to the role.

A recipient of the AAA Four Diamond Award for 18 consecutive years, the Argonaut boasts a location just as noteworthy. Guests wake to views of the San Francisco Bay, Alcatraz, and the Golden Gate Bridge before venturing mere steps to next door Ghirardelli Square & Hyde Street Pier.

A DAY IN THE LIFE...

The Busser is responsible for overseeing table maintenance, maintaining the flow of service and assisting the servers in the Blue Mermaid Restaurant and patio areas.

  • Prepares dining room for patrons by cleaning and clothing tables; setting decorations, condiments, candles, napkins, service plates, and utensils.
  • Protects establishment and patrons by adhering to sanitation and safety policies.
  • Maintains menu presentation by keeping menus clean; replacing damaged or soiled pages; cleaning chalkboards; lettering specials on chalkboards.
  • Maintains table setting by removing courses as completed; replenishing utensils; refilling water glasses; being alert to patron spills or other special needs.
  • Supports wait staff by setting-up and replenishing condiment stands, trash containers liners, and bus stations.
  • Closes dining facility by cleaning chairs and tables; sweeping and/or vacuuming floors; removing trash and recyclables from the facility.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in staff training opportunities.
  • Enhances organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

  • Previous experience in bussing but it’s not required! We can teach you the skills you bring personality!
